One of a number of starship hull test images. I made these images to explore variations in greebling and hull plate shapes and configurations. The tests are a little less practical and a little more abstract, but they have been really helpful, and should be a great source of inspiration and practical experience the next time I decide to make a full fledged 3d model of a starship, space station or even a mechanized planet. Parts were modeled in 3dsmax, rendered with brazil, some was painted in photoshop, and many patterns were inspired and produced by Darktree, Bercon Noise and Filterforge procedural patterns. This is my first new Tech Floor after a 2 year break.

I have some low polt starship courtesy of Nighmarehero [link] but his textures stink. I intend (since his permissions allow) to use his ships in a pen and paper RPG. and I was wondering if I could please use some of your floors? I can't offer any money but I would definitely give credit where it's due and let everyone know where to find the creating artist..

Speechless.

I'm not quite sure what draws me to this series of yours. Maybe it has to do with my ceramics skills.

Hehe. Well, I guess it's a bit of an involved story (my avatar). Like most people, I am not entirely dark and angry and I'm not always happy and joyous. So while one part of me loves evil/disturbing artwork, films like Alien/Predator/Robocop, and listens to extreme death metal music, another part of me enjoys the muppets, has a stuffed Totoro collection and works professionally on children's animated features. That avatar is the Wheedle, a character from a children's book. He seemed like a good representation of the ying and yang, he's big orange and cuddly, but he's also very surly and grumpy in the book because people keep interrupting his sleep with their happiness. The Wheedle book was also my favorite kids book growing up, my grandmother would read it to me at bedtime when I slept over. So when my grandmother died, pretty much the only thing I wanted from her house was her copy of the Wheedle book, and hence, the wheedle character seemed like the perfect avatar, it represented the ying and yang and seemed like the perfect tribute to the life of my grandma so I'll always remember her when I see my avatar. Plus, it starts great conversations like this :)
